Biography

Andrey Esipenko is a Grandmaster chess player born on March 22, 2002 in Novocherkassk, Russia. Esipenko was awarded the Grandmaster title in 2018 and the FIDE Master title in 2013. As of March 2022, Esipenko achieved a Peak rating of 2723; as of that month, he achieved a Peak ranking of 24.

The Beginning

Esipenko began playing chess at the age of five. In 2013, the GM received his FIDE master title. By late 2017, Esipenko had completed all of his grandmaster norms and was awarded the title by FIDE in April 2018.

Esipenko competed in the 2017 European Individual Chess Championship from May 30 to June 10, 2017, and received a score of 6.5/11 points, while his performance rating was 2618. Esipenko competed in the Aeroflot Open in February 2018.

Esipenko finished 57th out of 92 competitors, scoring 4/9 points. In addition, Esipenko competed in the European Individual Chess Championship in March 2018 and finished in forty-eighth place, scoring 7/11 points.

Esipenko defeated Daniil Dubov in a blitz tiebreaker in the fourth round of the Chess World Cup 2021 after leveling the classical games and rapid deciding sets. After blitz seedings, Esipenko was eliminated in the fifth round of the tournament by Magnus Carlsen. Esipenko also competed in the 74th Russian Chess Championship, which lasted from October 9 to October 20, 2021. On straight sets, Esipenko placed third with a score of 6/12 points.

Esipenko won the Under-10 European Chess Championship in 2012 and the Under-16 European and Under-16 World Chess Championship in 2017.
