Biography
Dmitry Bocharov is a Russian chess grandmaster. Born in Novosibirsk, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union, on October 20, 1982. Babujian was awarded the title of Grandmaster (2010) and International Master (2006). As of December 2022, his FIDE rating was 2516, while his Peak rating was 2647 as of January 2009.
The Beginning
Bocharov finished sixth on a tiebreak in the 2003 Cappelle-la-Grande Open after tying for the top spot with Vladimir Burmakin, Eduardas Rozentalis, Philipp Schlosser, Alexander Areshchenko, Jakov Geller, and Evgeny Miroshnichenko. Bocharov won the Masters competition at the 14th Abu Dhabi Chess Festival in 2004 with a convincing victory.
Bocharov finished ninth on tie break after tying for first place at the 2009 Voronezh Open alongside Sergey Volkov, Igor Lysyj, Aleksandr Rakhmanov, Valerij Popov, Denis Khismatullin, Dmitry Andreikin, and Dmitry Kokarev. He finished second on a deciding set at the 11th Dubai Open that same year after tying for first place. He won the Chigorin Memorial for the second time in 2011 by placing first.
Bocharov was a member of the “Siberia” squad from Novosibirsk, which in 2015 won the Russian Team Chess Tournament Premiere League and the European Chess Club Cup. Other teammates were Vladimir Kramnik and Levon Aronian. Bocharov won the 2015 Russian Blitz Chess Championship.
With a score of 8.5 points out of 11, Bocharov finished second to sixth in the first Mukhtar Ismagambetov Memorial on June 26, 2020, behind Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Kazybek Nogerbek, and Davit Maghalashvili.
