Biography

Maxime Lagarde is a French chess Grandmaster born on March 16 1994 in Niort, Deux-Sevres, France. Maxime was awarded the Grandmaster title in 2013, the International Master title in 2011, and the FIDE Master title in 2008. As of February 2020, his Peak rating was 2659. Maxime ranked the fifth French chess player as of August 2021.

The Beginning

Lagarde seconded at the 2018 Reykjavik Open, scoring 7 out of 9 games. In 2019, Maxime won the French Chess Championship and finished joint-first with 6 out of 9 games, thus winning the title on a tiebreak against Laurent Fressinet. Maxime won the 22nd Trieste Festival in 2020. Maxime has played 473 games from 2006 to 2022, winning 174, losing 78, and drawing 128 hence attaining an overall record of 62.6 percent.

Maxime won the 2019 French Championship and achieved his highest FIDE rating of 2659 the following year.
