Biography

Luke James McShane is an England chess Grandmaster and prodigy, born on January 7th, 1984 in London, England. Luke was awarded the title of Grandmaster in 2000 aged 16, and the title of International Master in 1997. As of August 2022, Luke’s FIDE rating was 2661 while his Peak rating was 2713 as of July 2012. McShane has established himself as one of England’s top competitors and a representative of the national squad. He has long been reported as the globe’s greatest novice chess competitor and ventured as a businessman in London’s banking industry.

Notable achievements

McShane Shared first place at the 1998 Bunratty Masters held in Ireland with John Nunn scoring 5/6 points.

Bagged Silver medal at the World Junior Tournament in Goa, in 2002.

Triumphed in 2003 at the 136-player Kuppenheim Tournament and played online with a score of 50.5/53 points.

He emerged victorious at the British Blitz Championship held in Uxbridge in 2003 with a score of 14.5/16 points as well as the Greenland Open Rapid Tournament with a score of 8.5/9 points.
