Biography

Jorden Van Foreest is a Dutch chess Grandmaster born on April 30, 1999 in Utrecht, Netherlands. Foreest was awarded the Grandmaster title in 2016, the title of International Master in 2014, and the FIDE Master title in 2014. As of May 2022, Van Foreest Peak rating was 2715, making him the second  highest rated Dutch player, behind Anish Giri.

Foreest was embraced to chess by his father at age six, although he did not frequently participate until he was nine. Van Foreest graduated from Topsport Talent School in 2018 and has been a competent chess player ever since.

The Beginning

He participated in the September 2015 World Junior Chess Championship and placed sixth with a score of 8 out of 13 games. Foreest won the Groningen Chess Festival in December with a score of .5 out of 9 games. In August 2016, Foreest won the Dutch Chess Championship. Foreest received a performance rating of 2819 after scoring 5.5/7 points.

Foreest participated in the 83rd Tata Steel Masters in January 2021, finishing first place with Anish Giri on 8.5/13 points after 13 sets. Foreest triumphed in the tournament by winning the armageddon game after drawing both blitz seedings.

Notable Achievements

In 2013, Foreest won the European U14 Chess Championship with 7.5 points out of 9 games.

In August 2016, Foreest won the Dutch Chess Championship and received a performance rating of 2819 after scoring 5.5/7 points.
