In the last list of the top Chess players we published, we went over the best Slovak Chess players. Now in this article, we’re ranking the best Slovenian Chess players from Slovenia, starting with the number ten spot in FIDE.

His games include; 22nd ch-EUR Indiv 2022, 31st TCh-SLO NML 2021, 36th ECC open 2021, and Online Olympiad Top DivB 2021.

Adrian Mikhalchishin was accorded the title of Grandmaster in 1978 and the International Master in 1977 and licensed as a FIDE Senior trainer in 2004. In 1984, he attained the fourth position in the Soviet championship and the Soviet Youth victor in 1977. In addition, he clinched the international championship -Banco do Roma on seven occasions (2002, 1999, 1991, 1990, 1979, 1980, 1977. He was the 1984 champion of the European Cup and the World Youth tournament- in 1977 & 1980.

Born: January 1, 1994

He has competed in the following tournaments; TCh-AUT 2021, 23rd European Teams 2021, 29th TCh-CRO Div 1b 2021, and 2nd GM Mix Bassano 2021.

The last tournaments include; the 2nd Festival d’Estate OpA 2022, 22nd ch-EUR Indiv 2022, Third Saturday GM Mix 242 2022, and 23rd European Teams.

Alexander G Beliavsky was crowned the title of Grandmaster in 1975 and the International Master title in 1973 and licensed as a FIDE grandmaster in 2004. He has a FIDE rating of 2505 and a Peak rating of 2710. He clinched 1973 the World Junior Chess tournament and the USSR Chess tournament on four occasions- 1990, 1987, 1980, & 1974. He additionally participated in the Candidates Tournament in 1982 and 1984 after earning qualifications via playing at the world chess tournament.

He was also part of the 1984 chess olympiad Slovenian team clinched the gold medal. He has been a chess player from 1966 to 2022 and has played 3176 games. In those games, he has won 1222, drawn 1390, and lost 564, earning him a winning score of 60.36 percent. Alexander has competed in several tournaments, including the 22nd ch-EUR Indiv 2022, 31st TCh- SLO NML 2021, and TCh-UKR 2021.

5. Matej Sebenik

Title: Grandmaster

Born: August 28, 1983

Matej Sebenik was conferred the title of Grandmaster in 2012, the International Master title in 2003, and was licensed as a FIDE trainer in 2013. He has a FIDE rating of 2512 and a Peak rating of 2573. In 2014, Matej emerged victorious in the Slovenia chess tournament and the San Sebastian championship in 2009. He has represented his country in various competitions, including the European Team chess tournament, the Chess Olympiad, Mitropa Cup, and the Youth team chess tournament. Matej was part of the team that won the Mitropa Cup in 2005.

Dusko Pavasovic was granted the Grandmaster title in 1999, became a FIDE trainer in 2012, and has a FIDE rating of 2525. In 1999 & 2006, Dusko clinched the Slovanian championships and the same title the following year. In addition, he clinched the Vidmar Memorial while finishing in the fourth position at the European Individual chess tournament in 2007. Pavasonic has also represented his country at the Mitropa Cup, the Chess Olympiad, and the European team chess tournament.

Skoberne, Jure was accorded the title of the Grandmaster in 2010, the International Master title in 2007, and the FIDE Master title in 2005. He has been a chess player from 1995 to 2022 and has played 596 games. In those games, he has won 232, drawn 187, and lost 177, earning him a winning score of 54.61 percent. Jure has competed in several tournaments such as the 23rd European Teams 2021, TCh-AUT 2021, Online Olympiad Top DivB 2021, and the TCh- AUT 2019.

He competed in 2008, 2009, 2010 & 2013 Slovenian chess tournaments and emerged victorious. He has represented his country at the Mitropa cup, Chess Olympiad, the European Youth team tournament, and the European team chess Tournament.
