In the last list of the top Chess players we published, we ranked the best Kazakh Chess players. Now in this article, we’re ranking the best Slovak Chess players from Slovakia, starting with the number ten spot in FIDE. All of the players in this list are Grandmasters with an Elo rating over 2500. For more information on ratings, see the guide on how to get a FIDE rating.

Filip Haring was accorded the title of FIDE Master in 2017. He has played a total of 151 games from 2015 to 2022. In those games, he won 53, lost 56, and drew 42, thus equaling a winning score of 49.01 percent. Among the notable tournaments he played include; the Sachy.cz Extraliga 2021, TCh-SVK 2021, Mitropa Cup 2022, and 22nd ch-EUR Indiv 2022.

8. Samir Sahidi

Samir Sahidi was accorded the International Master title in 2020 and the FIDE Master title in 2015. From 2015 to 2022, Sahidi has played 221 games; 61 wins, 87 draws, and 80 losses resulting in a winning score of 45.83 percent. He has competed in the following tournaments; sachy. cz Extraliga 2021, TCh-SVK 2021 and the Mitropa Cup 2022.

7. Lubomir Ftacnik

Lubomir Ftacnik was accorded the title of Grandmaster in 1980 and the International Master title in 1977; he became a licensed FIDE trainer in 2014. He has a FIDE rating of 2483 and a Peak rating of 2618. He clinched the European junior championship in 1976 and has played for his country in the Chess Olympiad since 1980. In addition, he emerged victorious in the South Carolina Open together with coming top at the Las Vegas National Open in 2006.

He has been a chess player from 1974 to 2022 and has played 2979 games. In those games, he has won 1050, drawn 1473, and lost 456, earning him a winning score of 59.97 percent. Lubomir has played a couple of tournaments, the last being; TCh-AUT 2nd Mitte 2021, sachy.cz.Extraliga 2021, TCh-SVK 2021, and Bundesliga 2021.

6. Christopher Repka

Full Name: Christopher Repka

Title: Grandmaster

Born: October 6, 1998

Federation: Slovakia

Christopher Repka was crowned the title of Grandmaster in 2018 and the International Master title in 2016. He has a FIDE rating of 2516 and a Peak rating of 2534 and has twice been the championship champion of the Slovakian chess championship, with his last victory in 2017. Repka has played chess from 2007 to 2022, a total of 520 games; 186 wins, 182 draws, and 152 losses, equating to a score of 53.27 percent. The last tournaments played by Repka include the 31st Chicago Open 2022, Saint Louis Congress GM, St Louis Spring B, and PNWCC Master Artist Point 2021.

5. Juraj Druska

Full Name: Juraj Druska

Title: International Master

Born: August 31, 1994

Federation: Slovakia

Juraj Druska was conferred with the title of the International Master title in 2015 and the FIDE Master title in 2011. He has a FIDE rating of 2519 and a Peak rating of 2515. In 2012, he clinched the CH18 group of the Slovakian youth tournaments. During the 2021 Chess World Cup competition, he was eliminated from the tournament in the second round by Van Foreest Jorden. He has been a chess player from 2007 to 2022 and has played 390 games. In those games, he has won 105, drawn 182, and lost 103, earning him a winning score of 50.26 percent.Juraj has competed in several tournaments such as; sachy-cz Extraliga 2021, TCh-HUN 2021, TCh-SVK 2021, and Mitropa Cup 2022.

He is the victor of the Slovakian Youth championship within varying age categories and also, and he has participated for Slovakia in the World youth chess tournament and European youth chess tournaments in varying age groups. In 2015, he clinched the Slovakian International chess championships.

Jan Markos was accorded the title of Grandmaster in 2007 and the International Master title in 2001. He has a FIDE rating of 2555 and a Peak rating of 2602. Markos clinched the U16 European youth chess tournament and the Slovakia chess tournament in 2000 and again retained his victory in the Slovakian chess championship in 2011 & 2012 while being a runner-up in the 2006 National championships. Markos has represented Slovakia in the European team chess championships and the chess olympiads in different years.

He has a FIDE rating of 2594 and a Peak rating of 2540. Pechac has played a total of 364 games; 129 wins, 147 draws, and 88 losses resulting in a winning score of 55.63 percent. He has competed in the following tournaments; sachy.cz.Extrliga 2021, TCh-SVK 2021, Vezerkepzo Chritmas 2021 and the 4th Prague Challengers.
