1. Chess.com Forum: Best For User Base

Out of the big three chess websites, chess.com, lichess.org, and chess24, the largest chess forum that exists and also the largest chess website in general, the Chess.com forum is the most popular with the most active users.

Some users suggest there is some lower quality comments, but when you have such a large user base, there are going to be some comments that suggest that. There are more than enough high quality posts and forum members that frequently post helpful tips. Check out the forum and work on your Chess puzzles too.

2. lichess.org Forum

Since we just talked about the chess.com forum, it’s appropriate to then go over the second largest chess forum and website, the lichess.org forum. Like the Chess.com forums, lichess has a massive user base, so there is some lower quality threads here and there. But there is plenty of value to be consumed here. Some research and digging will be required to sift through and find the golden nuggets, which is worth it.

3. Chessgames.com

If you’ve been playing Chess for more than 5 minutes, you know about Chessgames.com. It’s not a forum like other forums on this list, but there is a comment section underneath every game where players discuss the game and post thoughts, suggestions, and also ask questions. It’s by far one of the best Chess websites on the web.

4. ChessPub: Best For Serious Players

As far as Chess forums go, many more serious players suggest that ChessPub.com is really the only good option. There are casual Chess players and there are serious players, the more serious players tend to find other serious players and discuss Chess tactics and Chess openings with each other as they are actually trying to climb the FIDE ladder. If you’re one of them and haven’t checked out Chesspub.com yet, you might fit right in like a glove.

5. ChessTempo

The ChessTempo forum is suggested to be by far, the best Chess forum in existence. With higher rated players and plenty of resources and tools, it’s the perfect place for players to hang out at. They even have training diaries that can be utilized to track progress and improve further.

6. ChessForums.org

Like Chesspub.com, multiple users suggest that Chessforums.org is one of the few good options for serious Chess talk.

7. r/chess

Say what you want about Reddit, but some of the most helpful information I’ve ever found has been on Reddit. Is there a lot to sift through? Are there trolls and useless comments? Yes there are, but it’s more than worth taking the time to go through ever now and again because when you do come across a high value post, it can mean adding 100+ to your ratings. There are even Chess Grandmasters and International Masters that post on the Chess subreddit.

Honorable Mention: RedHotPawn

The RedHotPawn forum is one of the older Chess communities that have been around for years. Some users suggest that these older traditional bulletin board forums are outdated and obsolete. However, there are still active members and there are years of quality threads that can be found here. It’s worth a visit.
